The Caprians were amazed at the comic content of this Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty musical, set in present day period. It follows the story of British shoe salesman Harry Witherspoon, living a very dull life in East Grinstead, who discovers he is the heir to his American Uncle's fortune. This is conditional to him taking his dead uncle's body on a European jaunt, taking him gambling in Monte Carlo, skydiving and scuba diving. All the time, he is being chased by the Mafia, insane and almost-blind Mafia moll Rita (who has accidentally shot the Uncle) and her optometrist brother Vinnie, looking for the heart shaped box in which a stash of diamonds is hidden. A totally crazy show! [By arrangement with Joseph Weinberger Limited] |
